Duct sealing is a critical component of energy conservation measures when heating or cooling a building. In this process mastic is used to seal all cracks and joints present on the ducting, along with screws to further strengthen duct joints and connections. Mastic is durable, dirt tolerant, and tougher than duct tape. By sealing your forced air supply, as well as your return ducts, you gain airtight ducting. Airtight ducts are crucial in providing a consistent and comfortable temperature. Duct sealing also keeps unwanted gases, such as carbon monoxide, from leaking and circulating into an area.
