Air Seal

Areas: Attic / Crawlspace / Walls

An air seal includes caulk, foam or weather stripping around penetrations or exposure points into the living space.   This keeps unwanted outside air from entering a unit, which allows for a more consistent air temperature.  This also protects the thermal integrity of the insulation by using less energy for heating or cooling.

Other benefits of air sealing a home or building include reduced flow of air pollution from external sources and increased quality of the air you breathe.  Rain leakage and moisture protection from cavities helps prevent mold and mildew from forming.  Rodents are blocked from accessing the inside, and fire safety is enhanced with reduced air flow.
